Value addition is the process of changing or transforming a product from its original state to a more valuable state. Economically add value to an agricultural product (such as olive) by processing it in to a product (pickle) desired by customers which is more preferred in the marketplace.
Typical value-added products include: jams, jellies, preserves, fruit sauces and spreads, pickles, preserved vegetables, hot chili sauces, extra virgin olive oil and vinegar etc.
BARI Chakwal has been doing lot Research Work to standardize recipes of various value added products to encourage cottage industry in Punjab. Moreover, you and rural women can benefit this highly intervention. BARI team is in the process of developing documentaries to facilitate its adoption/dissemination.
